Summary:

In this training, the focus will be on emotional intelligence, conversational intelligence and cultural intelligence as critical aspects of leadership. First, you will learn what emotional intelligence is and how it impacts their ability to lead effectively. In addition, you will learn skills to become more self-aware and socially aware—and to become more empathetic because developing an understanding of what motivates or influences other people’s behaviors is key to leadership effectiveness. Also, you will learn what conversational intelligence is and how it impacts their ability to lead effectively. SNPs will learn new, effective and powerful conversational rituals that prime people for trust, partnership and mutual success. Finally, the participants will learn about CQ—Cultural Intelligence—which is the capability to relate and work effectively in culturally diverse situations which are prevalent in school nutrition programs across the country. It goes beyond existing notions of cultural sensitivity and awareness to highlight a theoretically-based set of capabilities needed to successfully and respectfully accomplish objectives in culturally diverse settings.

Learning Objectives: 1) Describe emotional intelligence and how it impacts effective leadership; 2) Develop skills that enhance both self-awareness and social awareness 3) Identify what motivates and influences behavior, and; 4) Apply Cultural Intelligence (CQ) skills to manage teams and interact with students, parents, school administrators and the school community.
