Summary:

Leadership is the ability of an individual to influence, motivate, and enable other stakeholders to contribute toward the effectiveness and success of school nutrition program as part of the education day. The ability to influence and persuade others in an ethical and transparent manner is essential to leadership effectiveness. In this class we will introduce a research-based model and some key tactics to help SNPs increase the probability of success in leading (influencing) others. We will also introduce a five-phase process that, when combined with influence skills, will enhance effectiveness as a professional. SNPs will actively practice applying the concepts in a case-based exercise. Based on the information and knowledge gained, participants will create an eight-step personal influence development plan.

Learning Objectives: 1) Identify how to influence, motivate and enable others to contribute toward shared goals; 2) Model leadership skills that influence and persuade others in an ethical and transparent manner for individual leadership effectiveness; 3) Describe the key tactics that facilitate successful leadership; 4) Discuss the five-phase process that enhances leadership effectiveness, and 5) Create an eight-step personal influence development plan.
