This engaging presentation on school meals and culinary tips is designed to educate students about meal components, culinary techniques, and trends. The presentation is paired with pre- and post-assessment knowledge checks to measure student learning and reinforce key concepts.
The Farm to School Nutrition resource introduces students to the importance of local food systems, the definition of locally grown foods, and how these foods are incorporated into school meals. It also highlights farm-to-school connections. Pre- and post-assessments are included to evaluate the knowledge gained.
These resources were used as part of nutrition education for the Georgia Department of Education Student Chef Competition. They are ideal for culinary and nutrition instructors in CTAE programs, Family and Consumer Science educators, school nutrition directors, and community programs promoting student engagement with school meals and farm to school.
