The goal of feeding more children over summer break became a reality for Dothan City’s nutrition program on Monday when they launched the school’s first food bus to assist in feeding children during the Covid-19 pandemic. The bus is retrofitted to temporarily store food and serve meals to eight different locations. The bus has been named “Hank,” an acronym for “Health and Nutrition for Kids.” It is estimated that the bus will feed 700-1,000 as more people become aware of the program. The bus will serve hot meals for both breakfast and lunch, and children do not have to be registered with Dothan City Schools to be eligible for meals.
