Beginning July 1, 2015, we began using our new name, Institute of Child Nutrition (ICN).  For over 25 years, the Institute has been serving child nutrition professionals nationwide and providing them with high quality resources, training, and research.  Along with a rich history of supporting these professionals, the Institute has experienced tremendous growth in the amount of resources and services we provide.  Inspired by this growth, we searched for a new name that would reflect today’s image of professionalism and service in the field of child nutrition.

The new name, Institute of Child Nutrition, and the ‘Circle i’ logo will connect the Institute’s valuable history to a fresh and energetic new look that is consistent with our mission:  “To promote the continuous improvement of child nutrition programs.”

Our staff looks forward to ongoing success and growth as we continue serving child nutrition professionals during this exciting time of transition.

On July 1, 2015, Dean Velmer Burton, The University of Mississippi, School of Applied Sciences, announced the appointment of Dr. Aleshia Hall-Campbell as Acting Executive Director of ICN.  Dr. Hall-Campbell was selected following a national search for a candidate to replace the former Executive Director, Dr. Katie Wilson, who accepted an appointment as the Deputy Under Secretary of USDA/FNS. “I’m completely honored by my new position at ICN,” said Hall-Campbell. “We have a lot to look forward to in the future, and I have a wonderful team to help continue our success.”

The ICN training kitchen has been redesigned and updated with new equipment:  combination oven, steamers, prep tables, and conveyor dish washer.  We look forward to providing excellent culinary trainings in our updated kitchen.  Check www.theicn.org for future trainings as they become available.

ICN's website has been updated to reflect the new branding.

The Institute’s website has been updated to incorporate the new name and logo.  Both the old web address and the new one, www.theicn.org, will direct you to the current website.  Updating all occurrences of NFSMI will take some time, but we are diligently working to make the necessary changes.  Moving forward, all resources will be uploaded with the new logo, however, old resources will not be changed until they come up for revision.
