Info about STAR

To meet the unique training, technical assistance, and professional development needs of school nutrition managers/site-level supervisors, ICN has launched the School Nutrition S.T.A.R. (Strategies, Trainings, Action Plans, and Resources) initiative to help schools develop goals and best practices to improve program administration and operations. In an effort to ensure success, selected managers/site-level supervisors will participate in ongoing activities over a 12-month period.

What’s required to participate?

Director’s Approval: An email will be automatically submitted to your director once you complete the director’s information piece of the application and hit submit. ICN will notify you upon receipt from your director.
Travel to Oxford, MS: If selected, participants must travel to Oxford, MS for the 2 1/2 day workshop being held October 10-12, 2018. ICN will reimburse travel expenses according to the ICN travel policy.
Complete Application by Deadline: Application must be received by ICN on or before August 24, 2018. This also means your director must complete their portion by this deadline.

Participant Expected Outcome: Exclusive certificate and designation once all components are successfully completed!

2 1/2 day workshop featuring
- Resources and Training on Meal Preparation and Service, Procurement and Inventory Management, Nutrition and Menu Management, Marketing, Communication, and Customer Service
- Action Plan Development
- Coaching on Group Facilitation
- Peer-to-Peer Networking and Sharing of Strategies and Best Practices
Mentoring up to 4 times within a 12-month period
Online courses
Virtual-led trainings
Monthly webinar series
Teach-back opportunities to train frontline staff within your district using Manager’s Corner curricula

Attend workshop on October 10-12 at the Institute of Child Nutrition in Oxford, MS. ICN will reimburse participant travel expenses according to the ICN travel policy.	2 1/2 days workshop plus travel days.
Participate in virtual instructor-led trainings.	1 hour per month x 4.
Participate in monthly webinars.	1 hour per month x 12.
Provide training to others within the district using the Manager's Corner curricula.	20 minutes per training session.
Complete required online courses.	1 hour per course.
Participate in follow-up evaluations and one-on-one coaching.	1 hour x 4.
Implement action plan developed during the workshop.	To be decided by plan.
