Ice and snow may be covering the country, but preparation for Summer Food Service Programs has already begin for many states. The Institute of Child Nutrition is excited to offer the Summer Meals Food Safety Kit.
This kit contains tips and tools to help summer meals sites implement food safety best practices. It was created based on research conducted by the Center for Food Safety in Child Nutrition Programs at Kansas State University and ICN – which can be found HERE. The content and design were created by USDA, Food and Nutrition Services Office of Food Safety and ICN. In 2017, the kit made its first debut for non-traditional sites, or those who are only run during the summer. The 2018 kit has been adapted for traditional sites, or those who generally run year round.
